Nathaly Vinueza of Warmi on Building Financial Protection Around Women's Unpaid Work

Nathaly Vinueza is the founder and CEO of Warmi, a femtech and insurtech company that grew out of her work as a lawyer on gender-based violence. She came to see that legal intervention alone was not enough, and that lasting change also needed prevention, financial inclusion, education and access to opportunities.

Warmi combines a proprietary, patented methodology with technology and artificial intelligence, seen through a gender lens. Its AI-powered Digital Emotional Diary, Olivia, offers personalized support and can help identify potential warning signs of gender-based violence. The company has already impacted more than 5,500 women across Latin America.

In this Q&A, Nathaly shares what led her from law into femtech, the gap she found in how insurance systems overlook unpaid care work, and what is next as Warmi prepares to scale in the United States, particularly among Hispanic women.

My journey began in the legal field, where I witnessed firsthand how gender inequality, economic dependence, and gender-based violence can limit women’s freedom to make decisions about their own lives. I realized that addressing these challenges required more than legal intervention; it required prevention, financial inclusion, education, and access to opportunities.

That conviction led me to found Warmi, a femtech and insurtech ecosystem built around our proprietary, patented methodology, which has been tested with women and supports their holistic transformation. Through Warmi, we combine technology and artificial intelligence with a gender lens to help women strengthen their well-being, autonomy, and decision-making.

Our AI-powered Digital Emotional Diary, Olivia, provides personalized support, helping women recognize their needs and continuously improve their well-being. It can also help identify potential warning signs of gender-based violence and, when appropriate, guide women toward qualified professionals for specialized support.

We have impacted more than 5,500 women across Latin America, witnessing success stories of meaningful personal transformation along the way. For me, innovation is not simply about technology; it is about using it with purpose to close gender gaps and create lasting change.

Q: Protecting unpaid work through insurance isn’t something many founders focus on. What gap did you identify, and how do women respond when they learn about it?

We identified a fundamental gap: millions of women dedicate their lives to unpaid care work, raising children, and managing their households, yet their contributions remain largely invisible within financial and insurance systems.

Our work in the Latin American insurtech ecosystem has reinforced the importance of developing more inclusive protection solutions that reflect women’s real circumstances. At Warmi, we believe that caring for a family is valuable work, and women who take on these responsibilities deserve security and protection, regardless of whether they earn a formal salary.

We aim to connect women with accessible, affordable insurance solutions while working with financial institutions and insurers to encourage products that respond to their needs. Combined with financial education, emotional well-being, and empowerment tools, this protection can help women strengthen their autonomy and access new opportunities for personal and economic development.

When women realize that they also deserve protection, regardless of their income, the conversation changes. They begin to recognize the value of their contributions, their own needs, and their right to plan for their future. Our vision is to help families recognize care as a shared responsibility while giving women more tools to build financial independence and make informed decisions about their lives.

Q: What are your next steps, and what have you learned from building this in Latin America that other founders could learn from?

My next step is to scale Warmi in the United States, particularly among Hispanic women, by building strategic partnerships with organizations, businesses, financial institutions, and insurers. Our ambition is to become a leading platform for holistic well-being and emotional health, connecting women’s needs with personalized support, financial education, protection, and opportunities for growth.

Our proprietary methodology and the ongoing development of Olivia allow us to keep improving a model that learns from women’s real needs. We are not building technology for its own sake; we are continuously improving how we listen to women, support them, and connect them with relevant solutions, qualified professionals, and a community where they feel heard and supported.

Building Warmi in Latin America has taught me resilience, the importance of listening deeply to the people we serve, and how to turn real problems into opportunities for innovation. It has also taught me to think globally, step outside my comfort zone, and develop a differentiated value proposition that addresses genuine needs.

Having impacted more than 5,500 women reminds us that our purpose must be reflected in tangible results and real stories of transformation. We want to demonstrate that it is possible to build a sustainable, scalable business without losing sight of its greater purpose: closing gender gaps, recognizing the value of women’s contributions, and creating opportunities for women to transform their own lives.

For me, the true measure of innovation is not just how much a company grows, but how many lives it meaningfully and sustainably transforms.
