In this Q&A, LuCiana shares the conviction behind Human B4 Resources, what she wishes she had known before building it, and what comes next, from a mental health pilot program for Lake County, Illinois to practical AI training for veterans, seniors and people with disabilities.

Q: What stands behind the work you were recognized for, and what inspires you most about it?
Behind Human B4 Resources is more than 15 years of HR leadership and one conviction: no one should become invisible behind a policy, a title, or a difficult workplace moment. What inspires me most is helping people feel seen and equipping leaders to pair compassion with accountability, because protecting people and strengthening organizations should not be opposing goals.
Q: What is one thing you learned while building Human B4 Resources that you wish you'd known at the start?
I wish I had known that I did not need permission to take a chance on myself, or to limit myself to one interest to build a focused business. My experience, creativity, and commitment to people are not competing directions; they are the foundation of what makes Human B4 Resources distinctly mine.
Q: What's next for you and Human B4 Resources?
I am developing a mental health pilot program for Lake County, Illinois, and creating practical AI training and resources for veterans, seniors, people with disabilities, and people with short-term memory loss. Through two learning tracks, I want to help people simplify everyday tasks and build skills that strengthen their opportunities in the workforce.
I am also working toward becoming a SHRM Recertification Provider, extending our human-first approach to continuing education for HR professionals.
