From NHS Nurse to Healing Guide: How One Woman's MS Diagnosis Became Her Greatest Teacher

Exclusive Q&A with Chloe Bruce: Transforming Trauma Into Triumph Through Holistic Healing

In a world where chronic illness often feels like a life sentence, Chloe Bruce's story offers something more precious than hope—it offers proof that healing is possible.

At just 26 years old, Chloe was thriving as an NHS chemotherapy nurse when Multiple Sclerosis crashed into her life "like a freight train." The diagnosis didn't just challenge her physically; it shattered her sense of self, leaving her feeling like "a shadow of the person I was before." For ten years, she battled debilitating symptoms that conventional medicine couldn't fully address, watching her vibrant spirit dim as her body struggled.

But sometimes our darkest moments become the catalyst for our greatest transformations.

Today, Chloe Bruce is a Licensed Rapid Transformational Therapy (RTT®) Practitioner trained with Marisa Peer, a Certified Hypnotherapist, and Reiki Master who has turned her personal healing journey into a mission to help others reclaim their sparkle. Based in Amersham, Buckinghamshire, she runs Equilibrium Body and Mind, where she combines her medical background with transformative holistic therapies to guide women back to wholeness.

Her MS is now quiet, and she describes feeling "so grateful that I have had these treatments at my fingertips as I now feel that the past is far behind me and I am the person I used to be before the illness took hold."

In this candid conversation, Chloe shares the pivotal moment that changed everything—from sitting helplessly on the floor, unable to stand without help, to discovering the profound healing power of the mind-body connection. She reveals how Rapid Transformational Therapy helped her believe "I am enough just as I am," and why she believes that for women with chronic conditions, changing your subconscious beliefs is the key to reclaiming your power.

This isn't just another wellness story—it's a testament to the extraordinary resilience of the human spirit and the transformative potential that lies within each of us, waiting to be awakened.

1. You describe your MS diagnosis as hitting you "like a freight train" and mention becoming "a shadow of the person I was before." Can you walk us through that pivotal moment when you decided to shift from conventional treatment to exploring alternative healing modalities? What was the catalyst that made you think "there has to be another way"?

The pivotal moment for me when I decided to explore alternative treatments to help the symptoms that I was experiencing - I was going through a particularly debilitating period of chronic fatigue and  I was sitting on the floor with my kids. I suddenly realised that I couldn't get up on my own. My Husband had to help me get  up from the floor as my legs were like jelly, which felt so undignifying and terrifying. I could see that if I didn't take action, I would end up in a wheelchair, so I made a pact to myself to find other avenues for healing. This for me was the catalyst that then started me off on my quest to find alternative therapies.

2. Your path from NHS chemotherapy nurse to holistic wellness practitioner is remarkable. How did your experience as both a healthcare provider and someone living with a chronic condition shape your approach to helping others? What do you wish more people understood about the intersection between conventional medicine and alternative healing?

In spite of seeing horrific suffering throughout my career as a Nurse, I am grateful for the experiences I've had, some of which are imprinted on my soul. Working as a Nurse with a chronic condition was extremely challenging but it helped me be more empathic to my patients. I understood what they were going through mentally and physically and I was able to offer them the comfort and counsel they needed. I think that conventional medicine has its place and can be incredibly beneficial. However, I think it's so important that people approach healing with an open mind and an open heart. Conventional medicine tends to focus on treating the symptoms and not necessarily the root cause of the issue. Stress was one of my triggers so it made sense to me to find therapies that helped me calm my nervous system, change my mindset and recharge my energy levels, hence why I now practice RTT, Reiki and Meditation on myself and my clients.

3. You mentioned that RTT helped you believe "I am enough just as I am" – a powerful shift in mindset. For women reading this who may be struggling with chronic conditions or feeling like they've lost their spark, what would you say to them about finding their light again? What does "shining your light" mean to you, and how do you help your clients discover this for themselves?

RTT has had the most powerful impact on my mindset and my self belief. When I was diagnosed with MS, I was only 26 years old. I felt like I'd been given a death sentence. I'd nursed enough people with the condition to know that it didn't always end well. I grieved the loss of the person I had been and the loss of the person I had thought I'd be in the future. It was a bleak time. My confidence was in tatters. I felt worthless, hopeless and robbed of my future and because I felt so useless, I gave my power away to the medical professionals who I thought had my best interests at heart. For women with chronic conditions who may have lost their sparkle, I would say that a condition doesn't 'define you' and that there is hope out there, you just have to pay attention to the nudges from the universe to find them. Reiki found me when I felt desperate and when I started noticing the signs. Don't give up. Be open to other routes to healing. The power of your mind on your body is phenomenal. You can actually heal your body just by changing your mindset and RTT is incredibly powerful for this. We all have our sparkle within. Sometimes it just gets buried with life. Often it's the beliefs we hold in our subconscious mind that are running our lives. Once you change them, you are free to change the trajectory of your life.

Meditation helps you to become an observer of your thoughts so that they no longer control you. I would say to  the women that I treat who have lost their sparkle, once you realise how amazing you are as a person, you will find the time and money to invest in your health because you will feel that you are worth it. The key is changing your subconscious beliefs so that you feel good enough and then healing will follow. Feeling good enough gives you your power and your sparkle back.
