She Didn't Stop at One App. She Built 50, Then Gave Them a Home
Fayetteville, Georgia entrepreneur Heather Milner didn't set out to build an app empire. She set out to help the people around her - the friend struggling through menopause, the parent separated from their kids by prison walls, the daughter who hasn't spoken to her mother in years. One idea led to another, and eventually those ideas outgrew any single platform. So Heather built her own: TMG App Store, an independent marketplace now home to more than 50 original apps addressing the real, often unspoken challenges people face every day.
The ideas, Heather says, come from simply listening - to conversations at work, at home, at church, in everyday life. When someone shares a struggle, her instinct is to ask how she could help, and sometimes that question becomes an app. Apps like The Pause, Beyond The Bars, and One Step Closer each grew out of a specific need she kept encountering, and each one is completely free, a choice she made deliberately so cost would never stand between someone and the help they need.
With the motto "Life Changes One App At A Time," TMG App Store spans everything from family and faith to business, relationships, education and personal growth. Heather delayed the launch until she felt the apps were genuinely ready, and now that the store is live, her focus shifts from building to making sure people know it's there. We spoke with her about where the ideas come from, the stories behind some of her most personal apps, and what's next for TMG App Store.

Q: What inspired you to start creating apps, and how did that grow into building more than 50 original apps around real-life needs?
One idea didn't just become one app - it revealed a whole category of overlooked everyday problems, and that eventually became more than 50 original apps and the TMG App Store itself.
The ideas come from everyday conversations - at work, at home, at church, and just living life. People will share real life with you if you just listen to them. I realized I needed to start listening more.
When someone talks about something they're struggling with, my mind naturally starts thinking, How could I help with that? Sometimes that question becomes an app.
Q: Apps like The Pause, Beyond The Bars, and One Step Closer each address a very specific real-life situation. Can you share more about how you come up with these ideas and turn them into apps?
The Pause was created simply because I've encountered women everywhere who talk about going through menopause or the early stages of menopause. It's a real experience, and I wanted women to have help and support right in front of them whenever they need it.
Beyond The Bars looks at life from both sides of the prison system. Imagine being away from your children, losing family members, or preparing to return to a world that has changed while you were gone. And then there are people who may never be released. I created Beyond The Bars with the hope of giving people support, encouragement, and some sense of peace - whether they're preparing for life outside or learning how to keep living a meaningful life inside. Your circumstances may be part of your story, but they don't have to be the end of it.
One Step Closer was designed to help people rebuild relationships with the people they miss, need, and love. Maybe it's the daughter who always seems angry with you. The friend who doesn't call anymore. Your spouse. Your children. Or maybe it's your relationship with God when you need Him more than ever before.
All three of these apps are completely free. That's intentional. I want to change lives, and I don't want money to stand between someone and help that could make a difference.
Q: What's next for TMG App Store?
More apps. More listening. More opportunities to solve the everyday problems people don't always talk about.
I want to continue growing TMG App Store while doing my part to remind people that there is still good left in this world. If one of my apps helps someone get through a difficult day, repair a relationship, find encouragement, learn something new, or simply feel like somebody thought about what they're going through, then TMG App Store is doing what I created it to do.
