Breaking the Age Barrier: How Kim Anderson Is Building a Smarter, More Inclusive Talent Market

After years spent watching highly qualified professionals over 50 get quietly filtered out of hiring pipelines, Kim Anderson decided the recruiting industry needed more than talk about inclusion. As a recruiting director, she saw the coded language firsthand, candidates dismissed as "overexperienced" or having "run out of runway", and realized that as a woman over 50 herself, she could easily face the same bias if her own job situation changed. That realization became the catalyst for GreySource.

The problem Anderson set out to solve goes beyond combatting ageist myths. As more people exit the workforce than are born into it, both nationally and globally, and as people live and want to work longer, experienced and multigenerational teams are proving to deliver real business value through innovation, productivity, and stronger workplace culture. GreySource helps companies turn those advantages into measurable results while helping older candidates navigate age bias by matching them with employers who are genuinely committed to age-inclusive hiring.

Anderson is now preparing to launch a large-scale talent platform that will give age-inclusive employers direct access to GreySource's curated community of experienced executive and professional talent. Unlike platforms that rely on job scraping or AI-only keyword matching, GreySource is built to keep a personal touch with every candidate and employer on the platform, making age inclusion a practical, hands-on part of modern recruiting.

Q: What inspired me to start GreySource?

As a recruiting director, I was persistently seeing extremely well qualified professionals over 50 rejected from talent pipelines due to ageism.    As I heard supposedly "inclusive" employers and hiring managers use terminology like "over experienced" or "out of runway" consistently, I realized as a +50 woman myself, that if my own job situation changed unexpectedly, I would be facing that same age discrimination and difficulty.  So, I started looking around to see if anyone was doing something to address that and found no one really was tackling it head on in the recruitment and HR space. And I decided someone needed to do something about it-so I started GreySource to do just that.

Q: What problem are you solving?

The problem I am solving is that by combatting the myths of ageism, I am also creating a unique workforce solution at a time that more people are exiting the workforce than are being born into it-which is true nationally and globally. As people are living longer, the need and desire to work longer is imminent. Experienced, mature professionals and high-performing multigenerational teams deliver measurable business value: They strengthen innovation, productivity, and enrich workplace culture. I help companies turn these proven advantages into bottom line results and support older candidates overcome the ageist roadblocks in the job market by matching them with employers who are age inclusion smart in their hiring practices and company culture.

Q: What's next for you?

I am preparing to launch a large talent platform that will allow age inclusive employers to see the +50 talent community of experienced executive and professional talent that GreySource has curated and match with their hiring needs. Unlike other groups that are scraping jobs or using only AI to "match" random candidates based on keywords, GreySource will retain its personal touch with all candidates in our platform and all employers who wish to use our services. GreySource makes age inclusion a practical part of modern recruiting by directly connecting employers with executive and professional talent aged 50+ and by helping hiring teams dismantle the age bias that blocks high-impact talent from entering hiring pipelines.
