Alexis Ferguson of Bosses In Heels on Why Women Need Execution, Not Just Networking
Most women leave a networking event with a stack of business cards and little else. Alexis Ferguson founded Bosses In Heels to change that, building a business growth platform for women who want strategy, support, and real execution behind their ideas.
That approach was on full display on October 2, when Alexis hosted the Museum of Her Gala at The Ben Hotel in West Palm Beach. Guests sat at tables honoring historic women entrepreneurs, then watched five founders pitch live, with Jess Arnold of Toxi Taxi taking home the $5,000 grand prize.
Now Alexis is preparing to open the Heels Society, a private membership for a founding cohort of 25 women. We spoke with her about why she started Bosses In Heels, how the gala came together, and what it takes to build a community that delivers lasting value.

Q: What made you start Bosses In Heels, and what were you seeing that women entrepreneurs weren't getting from regular networking?
I started Bosses in Heels because I wanted to be the support for other women that I had needed when I first started out as an entrepreneur. What I kept seeing was women leaving regular networking with a stack of business cards and no movement. Plenty of inspiration and surface-level connection, but no strategy, no follow-through, and nobody actually helping them execute. So I built the thing that was missing. Bosses In Heels is a business growth platform for women ready to build at a higher level: strategy, support, and the rooms that change everything. We don't just inspire women, we help them execute, so ideas become real, scalable businesses.
Q: How did the Museum of Her Gala come together, and what did it mean for the five women who presented?
The Museum of Her Gala came together as two stories in one room. On October 2 at The Ben Hotel in West Palm Beach, guests sat at tables that each honored a historic woman entrepreneur, the women who built before us, with a tribute connecting their stories to the women building today. Then the women building now took the stage: a live pitch competition with five founders; Jess Arnold of Toxi Taxi, Sofia Cancio of Casa Cancio, Rebecca Auguste of The Frynge, Savannah McMenamin of Purge & Co., and Samendie "Rosalie" Blanchet of Rosalie Body Works.
Jess Arnold won the $5,000 grand prize for Toxi Taxi, her Jupiter golf-cart taxi service getting people home safe for $15 a ride, and her prize included a full year of Heels Society membership. But for all five women, what it really meant was a real stage in a real room: their story told in full, in front of women who could become customers, collaborators, and champions, and momentum that didn't end when the night did.
Q: What's next for Bosses In Heels and the Heels Society, and what would you tell women who want to build a community of their own?
What's next is the Heels Society, our private membership, opening November 1 with a founding cohort capped at 25 women, and our public celebration on November 19 at Jack's Dining Room at The Nora. Members get every event free all year, press and publicity, content created for them, business strategy, legal counsel, accounting and money education, task credits they can spend on getting work done, a private member platform, and a quarterly ROI report that shows them, in numbers, the business value they've gotten. It's not a course and it's not a Facebook group. It's the room, with execution behind it.
To women who want to build a community of their own: be intentional about who is in the room, and build for movement, not just gathering. Nobody stays because the event was pretty. They stay because they got clarity, access, and real progress, and because someone held the standard when it would have been easier to let it get casual. Start curated, deliver real value, and the women in your room will become each other's referrals, collaborators, and support.
