From Brazil to Britain: How One Physiotherapist Revolutionized Lymphatic Drainage with Heart and Heritage

In a bustling London clinic, where wellness meets authenticity, Flavia Morellato has earned her reputation as the "Queen of Lymphatic Drainage" through an approach that's as much about emotional connection as it is about clinical excellence. As a Brazilian physiotherapist with over 13 years of experience transforming how people feel in their own skin, Flavia’s journey from Ibiraçu, Espírito Santo to Harvey Nichols represents more than a career shift—it’s a mission to bring the warmth, intuition, and holistic wisdom of Brazilian wellness culture to a London landscape hungry for authentic healing.

Her signature method has been featured in Forbes, Vogue, Tatler, and Women's Health UK, and her client list reads like a who's who of British celebrities, but behind the accolades lies a deeper story of cultural bridge-building, feminine empowerment, and the courage to trust one's instincts in an industry often dominated by rigid protocols. Through her innovative approach to lymphatic drainage—one that combines precise, rhythmic movements with deep abdominal work to optimize circulation and metabolism—Flavia hasn't just built a business; she's created a movement that honors both the science of the body and the wisdom of touch.

From helping women navigate chronic conditions like IBS and endometriosis to supporting post-surgery recovery and maternal wellness, Flavia's work extends far beyond the treatment table. Her story is one of following intuition, staying rooted in purpose, and proving that sometimes the most revolutionary approach is simply remembering what it means to heal with both knowledge and heart.

As a Brazilian physiotherapist who pioneered bringing authentic Brazilian lymphatic drainage to the UK, what inspired you to challenge traditional European methods and establish your own signature technique? How has your cultural background shaped your holistic approach to wellness?

As a Brazilian physiotherapist, I was always taught to connect with the body through intuition as well as technique. When I arrived in the UK, I realised traditional European methods often lacked that deeper, more human touch. I felt called to introduce something more authentic, more connected and that’s how my signature approach was born. My cultural background has shaped everything I do, always seeing wellness as something holistic, emotional, and deeply individual.

Your method goes far beyond aesthetic benefits, helping with serious health conditions like IBS, endometriosis, and post-operative recovery. Can you share how you've seen lymphatic drainage transform not just bodies, but lives? What's the most rewarding aspect of your work in empowering women's health and wellbeing?

I’ve been humbled by the way lymphatic drainage has changed so many lives not just bodies. From chronic conditions like IBS and endometriosis to post-surgery recovery, I’ve seen clients regain not only physical comfort but also confidence and emotional wellbeing. The the most rewarding part is watching women reclaim their health and feel empowered in their own skin again.

You've built an incredible reputation working with A-list celebrities while also training other therapists through your certification program. What advice would you give to women entrepreneurs in the wellness space who want to scale their expertise and create lasting impact in their field?

My advice to women in wellness? Stay rooted inn your purpose. You don’t need to be perfect to start, just committed. Build slowly, keep your integrity, and don’t be afraid to lead. The industry needs more women who bring both knowledge and heart to the table.
